Allergen Note

Kasi Fried Chicken prepares food in a shared kitchen, so trace amounts of common allergens may be present even when they are not listed in the meal name. If you or someone in your group has an allergy, please read this note before ordering and ask our counter team for the latest ingredient guidance.

Allergen Note

Why this note matters for every order

Our kitchen handles a range of menu items through the day, from classic fried chicken to spicy portions, meal combos and shared family packs. That means ingredients can move through the same prep space, oil, utensils and serving counters. Even with careful cleaning and separation where practical, small traces can remain.

If an allergy is severe, please do not rely on a menu name alone. Ask about the current batch, the sides chosen and how your order can be packed for the least contact possible. We will always give you the clearest answer we can, but we cannot promise a completely allergen-free meal.

Common allergens that may be found in our kitchen

Some of the ingredients used for fried chicken, coatings, sauces, sides and accompaniments may contain or come into contact with common allergens. The exact mix can change with specials, bulk orders and supplier stock, so ingredient details should be checked every time you order.

  • Gluten from flour-based coating and some side dishes
  • Egg used in certain batters or binding steps
  • Milk or dairy in selected sauces or creamy sides
  • Soy in marinades, stock bases or seasoning blends
  • Sesame, mustard or similar seasoning ingredients in some items
  • Peanuts or tree nuts if they appear in a special item or supplied condiment

Even when a specific item does not contain one of these ingredients, shared handling can still mean trace contact. That is why we encourage direct checking before you place the order, not after.

How to order more safely if you have an allergy

The safest approach is to tell us about the allergy before the order is packed. Mention the ingredient, how serious the reaction is, and whether the issue is a direct ingredient or even a trace amount. This helps our team decide what can be prepared with extra care and what should be avoided completely.

  • State the allergen clearly, for example gluten, egg, milk or nuts
  • Ask which pieces, sides or sauces are safest for your group
  • Request separate packing if that helps reduce contact
  • Keep the order simple where possible, with fewer add-ons
  • Check labels on any bottled or sealed extras before use

If you are collecting for a family, church group or school event, please make sure the person placing the order knows about every allergy in the group. A large tray can be fine for one person and not for another, so it helps to check each item carefully.

Shared equipment, oil and kitchen handling

Frying kitchens work quickly, and the same equipment may be used for different menu lines during a busy lunch queue or evening rush. Oil, baskets, tongs, trays and wrapping surfaces can all carry traces from previous items. We clean and manage these tools through the day, but shared use means contact can still happen.

For this reason, meals prepared for customers with allergies should be treated as higher risk than standard takeaway orders. If you need a lower-contact option, let us know when placing the order so the team can advise on the best available choice. In some cases, the safest option may be to avoid certain items entirely.

Packing and collection guidance for sensitive orders

Orders for travel, collection time slots and weekend prebooking are packed to keep food hot and tidy across Soweto and nearby areas such as Diepkloof, Meadowlands, Protea Glen, Dobsonville and Naledi. For allergy-aware orders, we can also keep items separated in the pack where possible, which helps when one meal has a different ingredient list from the rest.

  • Ask for separate wrapping for the item of concern
  • Keep sauces and wet sides apart where possible
  • Collect promptly so the order stays in good condition
  • Double-check the label or verbal note before leaving the counter

If you are ordering for delivery collection or a drive across town, remember that heat and movement can shift items inside the package. A neat pack is helpful, but it is not a medical control measure, so careful checking remains important.

What to do if a reaction starts after eating

If someone begins to react after a meal, treat it as serious. Stop eating immediately and follow the allergy action plan given by a doctor or clinic. If the reaction is severe, get emergency help straight away. Do not wait to see if it passes.

Afterwards, please let our team know what happened so we can review the order details, ingredient notes and packing steps. That feedback helps us improve our handling, and it may also help you decide what to order next time. If there was any confusion, we would rather clear it up early than leave you guessing.

Questions we get asked

Can you guarantee a meal is completely allergen-free?

No. Because we use a shared kitchen, we cannot guarantee that any meal is completely free from trace allergens. We can, however, help you choose and pack with more care.

Should I mention an allergy when ordering for a group?

Yes. Please tell us before the order is finalised, especially for family packs, church groups, school events or funeral orders. That gives the team a chance to check the ingredients and packing options.

What details should I give if I have a serious allergy?

Tell us the exact allergen, how severe the reaction is, and whether trace contact is a problem too. The more specific you are, the better we can guide you on what is suitable.
